"I completed an Expression of Interest Form and my details were on the EAT Database. I found out about the opportunity and felt excited about working on the project as I was really interested in the development.
I was made redundant at the beginning of this year - which was when I undertook PTS Training. I faced many barriers. A redundancy support package from my previous company and Better West Midlands paid for the PTS Training which helped. However, when I looked for further funding to undertake additional training, I found that there wasn't any and I had to pay for this myself.
I applied for many jobs as I was a qualified roofer but I soon realised that there weren't many jobs available so I was really excited when I heard about this opportunity and that there was training available.
I attended the Employability Training Programme and the tutor from South Birmingham College was really helpful. The "Meet the Employer Session" was really good and insightful - it gave me an understanding of the company.
The recruitment process was nerve wracking as it wasn't the usual application process. But I definitely benefitted from it and can see how this process can and does support you in finding a job by ensuring that you make a good first impression.
I feel a lot more relaxed I'm back to the old me. The kids are happy that I'm not as stressed as I was when I was looking for work. This job has given me a clear progression route to build on my skills and experience and I will reach supervisor level over the next few years.
I've benefitted from the training programme that Coleman & Co have provided. I've found Coleman & Co is supportive, appreciate your contribution, always encourage you and are willing to listen and provide you with everything you need. I've never worked for a company like this before."
