The Birmingham Gateway project is being delivered by Network Rail and is funded by Network Rail, Birmingham City Council, Advantage West Midlands, Centro and the Department for Transport.

We're also very pleased to have the wholehearted support of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce,  Birmingham International Airport plus Virgin Trains, London Midland, Arriva Trains Wales and CrossCountry, who operate rail services from New Street.

Network Rail will deliver the Birmingham New Street Gateway project. Network Rail is the strategic lead for the railways in the UK and owns and operates the rail infrastructure across the country. More people use the railways than ever before and Network Rail will invest £35bn in the next five years to expand and improve the railways. The New Street Gateway project is at the heart of these plans.

Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority in the UK and has placed the New Street Gateway Project at the heart of it's Big City Plan for Birmingham.

Advantage West Midlands is the Regional Development Agency for the West Midlands, and was established to transform the region through sustainable economic development. AWM backs New Street Gateway as a catalyst for growth, which will create over 11,000 jobs and deliver over £2bn of transport and wider economic benefits to the West Midlands.

Centro, the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive and Authority is supporting New Street Gateway as a core element of its plans to continue to develop public transport across the West Midlands.

The New Street Gateway project was developed with the support of European Regional Development funding.

The Department for Transport's aim is transport that works for everyone. DfT is working to deliver a transport system which balances the needs of the economy, the environment and society. DfT supports transport projects across the English regions. DfT is backing the Birmingham Gateway and its potential to transform a major rail hub, make a real difference to the travelling public and help to regenerate a central part of England's second city.
